We're calling him Dexter. If a family calls, and can prove he belongs with them, he can go. Failing that, we're his family now.

Someone left a beagle behind?! The poor thing.
This is how I ended up with my beagle (pet store drop off, though), and one of my cats (he just walked in, no one claimed him despite massive efforts to find his home).
I'm glad he's found a good home! We named the dog we adopted Dexter as well. Ours was inspired by an episode of "As Time Goes By." Congratulations on the new family member!
Hey, what a happy ending! I love how he found a loving, caring household to be adopted into. It's sad that he's probably had some trauma from getting lost and separated from his original family, but I couldn't be more pleased of where he's now ended up. ;)
Bless you for taking Dexter in! I wish more people cared so much about our fur friends. My Mom always said that found dogs were the best pets. Lucky you!
That's just wonderful!! Dexter is truly blessed to have landed on your door step (or in your neighbour's yard). I'm sure he appreciates your love and kindness. Congratulations!
I'm a teacher, technical editor, designer and writer, based in Toronto. My first book "Beyond Knit and Purl" has been praised for its fresh approach to teaching knitting. My latest book, "Pattern Writing for Knit Designers" has been called a "game-changer".
I'm Lead Technical Editor for Knitty. I'm known for my "small start" approach to teaching sock and mitten knitting.
I have opinions, mad math skills and an unfeasibly large stash of sock yarn.

Welcome Dexter!
Poor pup! He's been through a rough time, but at least the story has a happy ending!
Dexter is an awesome name, and I'm sure he'll be a great dog.
What's not to like? He looks cozy and comfy, and is now a celebrity...
and he definitely looks like a Dexter!
Good for you! Good for Dexter! Happiness and fun for you all!
Congrats to the newest member of your family! He's lucky to have been found by you!

He's as lucky to have you as you are to have him. I hope you're all happy together!
Oh Kate, that IS a happy ending. He's found a loving home, and you 2 have found a cute puppy.
Love his toy... is it a duck?
Dexter is just a little sweetie and it is so great that he has a new home. But when you knit him socks, remember he needs TWO pairs!;)

Yay! I don't know why this should make me so happy, but it does!
Let me know if you ever need a dog sitter... although I guess we will need to find out how Dexter feels about cats.
